Eagle Butte Observatory
Located in Dunmore, Alberta, Eagle Butte Observatory is the realization of an amateur astronomer's dream to make the wonders of the universe accessible to all who have ever looked up at the night sky and were amazed.
Eagle Butte Observatory is a privately owned and operated facility with state-of-the-art equipment as well as comfortable observing and classroom space.
The facility is available for you to come and enjoy by making an event booking or enrolling in one of several ongoing sessions on astrophotography, or one of our deep sky certificate programs.
Observatory Tours
An evening observatory tour is a fun and exciting choice for your next special occasion. It is perfect for children's groups, birthday parties, anniversaries, private groups, office parties, family gatherings, etc.
Enjoy an entertaining and educational multimedia presentation, have your questions answered and discover the amazing night-sky with our state-of-the-art astronomical telescopes and imaging equipment.
Create wonderful memories that will last.
We accept bookings for groups of up to 20 people for $150. Make the evening extra special with a picnic or barbecue beforehand for an additional $50. You bring food, drinks, cutlery and plates, and we provide the grill, propane and utensils, and even take care of all the cleaning-up afterwards!
On-Site Events
Presentations can be held on your own premises if you prefer, and this can be ideal for schools. Each presentation is approximately one-hour long and can be modified to accommodate your syllabus requirements if desired.
Presentations are supplemented with a Q&A session.
Daytime school presentations in Medicine Hat, Dunmore and Redcliff are $100. Outside the area, an additional travel fee will be charged.
We are also available to attend private events at your home, workplace, or anywhere else you choose. We will bring audio-visual equipment and telescopes to you. Prices are determined by your specific requirements, so please contact us to discuss your ideas.

Directions to Eagle Butte Observatory
From Co-op gas station in Dunmore, head south on Eagle Butte Road for 3.2km, then turn right into Loran Lane (11418 Eagle Butte Road).
Take the first right into Eagle Butte Crescent and proceed to #7, in the north‑east corner of the cul de sac.
Please park on the right side of the driveway and follow the footpath left of the house to reach the observatory.

I should have posted this review years ago but long story short, it is because of Rod's teaching of astronomy that I picked it up as my hobby as well.
I now have a 10" DOB telescope, and I am using it to complete my Messier program.
